(Having been a teacher I'm all too familiar with pushy and misguided parents). However, through watching the preceding program, I did catch the first few minutes. It confirmed everything that I thought it would be. (Without wishing to seem 'snobbish', the accents of the doting mothers did seem to suggest that they were nearly all from "a certain section of society"!).
Ummmm:
I've nothing against council estates. I was brought up on one and I taught some fantastic kids (with wonderful parents) in a school which served the largest council estate in Europe.
However there are certain council estates which attract TV documentary makers there, to show us all how certain people live their lives in a way which is vastly different from 'middle class norms'. What I saw of that program suggested that quite a few of the families might well come from such areas.

Hadn't heard of it before and it was in a very similar vein to Toddlers & Tiaras. What I found most pointless of all was the actual 'dancing'. It wasn't disco just a bunch of girls told to run round a room leaping in the most maniacal fashion they could, That poor thing that was totally exhausted.
My overall view was that none of the kids seemed to really want to be doing it.
