AVG is free.
As above go for AVG (free version) I have it on all my home computers and also my work laptop as it gives just as good protection as paid versions, however it is not greedy when it comes to processor power or RAM usage.
I also use AVG free. It works better than some of the paid ones I have used in the past. Make sure you remove Kaspersky first before putting on a new one though.

Go to the link below and put on the free version.

Actually it will have said that the pay for version can be trialled for free. They don't make it simple to find their free version offer.
Microsoft security essentials is the easiest.

ITs all back again Thanks
I have Microsoft as well and never had a problem with it. I used to have AVG which was brill but as Old Geezer says they don't make it easy to find the free one. When I got a new laptop a colleague put the Microsoft Essentials on for me which IS easy and free.
