Just watched the fully grown Silverback Gorilla Jambo who, back in 1988 cared for a little boy who'd fallen into the enclosure.
He then led the troupe of gorillas back into their cages to allow the keepers to get the boy. Unfortunately a young and very large gorilla escaped. He was "faced down" by two young keepers, at great danger to themselves.

It wouldn't have been allowed now with H & S. Very brave young men. Wow.

I remember that incident. Gorillas are pretty laid back animals (especially compared to humans and chimps) but as you say adolescents of any species (especially males) are unpredictable.

They are amazing animals.
Have you got the footage?
Did you forget to post a link to it?

Thanks wolf, that's it. It was a half hour programme on Sky. Amazing the bravery!!
The humans were safer in their than in a compound with chimps - not a fan of chimps, they are nasty little b*99ers.

I am off into dangerous territory - throwing the cats off my bed so that I can have my nap. :-)
