I have kept in contact with Heather Cook, nee Scott, so she feeds the gossip through. Her parents had the Willowsmere...and last time I was up we went and saw the mad Italian, Giovanni and his wife Judy who owned the Porthole.....

there is quite a story to the sale of the business in the 80s and it split the family in two, but not for here. What then transpired was my uncle didnt turn up for the funeral of my father and I vowed never to see him until he apologised. And as a result, I have not seen my cousins with the family name, though I have regular contact with my Aunt and her family - she is in the old High School flats and is a marvellous old bird.
Thanks DT I will tell them ... but Nephew in law is a gardener so they usually tour all the gardens, their favourite being Lost Gardens of Heligan...... They are really strapped for cash, so do you know of any attractions which are cheaper entrance fees (one girl 6yrs, boy 2, baby) they will need indoor attractions if the forecast is correct down your neck of the woods at end of week!
The Healey Cider Farm, and nearby (1/2 mile down the hill) the Callestick Ice Cream Farm (both with animals), Gardens up this way inc Trelissick and Trewithen, Bosvigo in the middle of Truro......
cheapish but good food and kid friendly, the Hawkins Arms, Zelah (just off A30) and Adam and Alex have two young boys 8 and 6....(one of my locals).
There's a play centre in Truro , just off Kenwyn St, if you are up here but not great....
The National Maritime Museum, Falmouth, more for the 8 year old.....Raise the Roof Penryn/Falmouth (climbing frames and wait for it, a café)
A full day trip could include Trerice Gardens and nearby Dairyland (A3058 to Newquay - not far from the Hawkins but also the Miners Arms at Mithian - and St Agnes is nice to visit - great beach just to the south at Porth Chapel.
In St Ives, there is a really nice leisure centre on the top of the town (inc swimming pool)
