i managed to replace three hob rings on my beko cooker......but when i went to switch it back on, it won't work and the circuit for the kitchen has gone bang! some of the electric wires came off when i turned the top of the cooker over, but as far as i am aware, everything has gone back to where it should be. my dad's coming in a minute for a few hours and i hope he can fix it or i'm buggered. =o(

just thought i would update you guys..... well it seems i did wire the cooker back properly before my dad had a look at it, but unfortunatel y have blown it up (!). at least the electric fuses withstood the battering (although it was a rather large bang) but the cooker is now caput. i phoned my landlord and fessed up that i had replaced three of the hobs but the cooker...

just thought i would update you guys.....well it seems i did wire the cooker back properly before my dad had a look at it, but unfortunately have blown it up (!). at least the electric fuses withstood the battering (although it was a rather large bang) but the cooker is now caput. i phoned my landlord and fessed up that i had replaced three of the hobs but the cooker was knackered and he has agreed to replace it (thank god!). he is a nice man.....but before anyone feels sorry for him, he does get over £9k in rent off me a year. so £120 for a cooker is a drop in the ocean, really! i have learnt my lesson, i swear x

How does that work? I'm an ex domestic appliance engineer and a qualified electrical safety person and I can assure you if you'd done everything properly it would have worked, not "blown up"
That said, I'm glad you're OK and the landlord is replacing it.

If you wish to experiment and to eventually learn, try to learn with something that won't kill you at your first attempt. Suggest plumbing is a good place to start
Yeah forget about the electric cooker, pl;umb a gas cooker in. If it all goes wrong what's the worst that can happen ......you get wet .....
