Proposed changes to carry-on luggage. Now it seems that some airlines (missed the names) are proposing cabin bags that fit under seat. Has anyone any info?

I read something a few weeks ago that WhizAir (I think) were starting to charge to put bags in the overhead bins! The only free items would have to fit under the seat. I thougt they'd then be able to put people in the overhead bins to further increase revenue!

That's what I was thinking too. It's a wonder Michael O 'Leary didn't think of it first.

It was about Wizzair, here are there new rules :-

Cabin baggage on flights departing after 24 October 2012:

If your cabin baggage is of size 42x32x25cm or smaller it can be taken onboard free of charge. It must fit under the seat in front of you.
If your cabin baggage is larger than the dimensions of a small cabin bag but not exceeding 56x45x25cm, you can take it onboard for a €10 fee. It must fit in the overhead compartment. You must be able to place it in the overhead compartment unassisted

Some of these airlines won`t be happy until people travel in just the clothes they stand up in.

It annoys me that airlines insist on baggage restrictions at the check-in gate and then encourage people to shop airside.
Many airports are just glorified shopping malls.
