We ordered the full set of Olympic Gold Medal Stamps & also the stamped First Day Covers. The full cost of more than £200 was taken from our bank account on 4th September after we had received a letter from Royal Mail telling us that we would receive all the stamps/first day covers within 28 days from 16th August.

Some of you may have had a similar experience but has any one of you actually received your order? We haven't and it has been impossible to get through to the Philatellic Customer Services at Royal Mail by telephone to enquire.

Please let me know if any one of you has received your order.

I haven't received mine yet either but I do remember when I phoned through my order the man on the phone did say it would be late Sep when the first lot (i.e. the 29 first day covers from team GB Olympic gold medals) ) would be sent out in one package. I've not ordered the paralympic ones but again I think it will be mid oct when they are despatched according to my letter ( I get letters regularly as I am a subscriber for all first day covers)
I got ma stamps a couple of days ago, I ordered the first day covers and the miniature sheets. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for your replies. We are loath to order the Paralympic stamps until we have received the main Olympic ones.

We are also subscribers for all First Day Covers.
When a First Day Cover issue is heavily oversubscribed it does take a while to get through them all - I think they have to be individually hand stamped . The demand will be absolutely huge . I remember a similar thing happening for the First Day Cover issue in memory of Princess Diana .
The envelopes are not adressed by the way, they are left blank (I get the FDCs too.)
Just out of interest, are these stamps likely to be worth more in years to come?
This may have nothing to do with the specific subject, but my missus works in our village P.O., and says that it has been an absolute nightmare over the past few weeks - she's usually the only one on duty - just coping with all the stamps which have had to be made with the various gold medal winners on them.
It's so time consuming that customers sometimes have to wait a wee while if she's in the middle of compiling them because they all apparently have to be accounted for.
So it doesn't really surprise me that even having stamps on order should be delayed as well, I can only imagine how busy the staff are - I'm assuming that they get posted directly to you?

I am hoping that these FDCs will be worth something in the future. Our grandson is very keen.
Received ours today DSJ - luckily I caught the postie just before he was going to try and ram the whole package through the letterbox!!!!

We're still waiting, Roslyn.

Hooray, Hooray! Our stamps arrived today!
hello again DSJ - did you receive your free first day cover album for displaying the above? Typical after I had already bought a different one!
They must have had a load left!
