Can anyone name me any good websites where I can look at shows , sport events etc as I want to buy some tickets for a suprise ?

I wouldn't particularly say it is good, some prices and 'handling' fees etc just seem to be a rip off. But they do seem to have the monopoly on most events:

And there's 'see tickets' - but I echo what Octavius said. You could just buy Time Out too (if it's London you're thinking of).
