Humans can be pretty smug about all the advancements that we, as a race, made in many areas.

But there is still war and suffering all around us.

The old historian, A J P Taylor, used to say that the biggest mistake in human history was made by Archduke Ferdinand's driver. He took a wrong turn. Had he not done so, Princip, the assassin, could not have killed the Archduke. Princip had arrived late on the scene and was in the wrong place, frantically trying to find his quarry, and must have been amazed to see the errant vehicle being driven to exactly where he was. He then carried out the attack which set in train the Great War. And he, alone, guilty, among millions of innocents who died, did not die; he was spared the death penalty because he was not thought old enough for it.

We are surely so well armed by technology and past experience as to avoid ant conflict of that magnitude, or anything like it.

Chimps and humans are the only animals that I know of who kill for pleasure - is it coincidence that we are pretty closely related?
Bah - "Man's inhumanity to Man"

☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺☺

'Many and sharp the num'rous ills

Inwoven with our frame!

More pointed still we make ourselves

Regret, remorse, and shame!

And Man, whose heav'n-erected face

The smiles of love adorn,

Man's inhumanity to man

Makes countless thousands mourn!
I've seen them live...

ummm - not heard of them before, but they seems to have been around for a while. I might see if there is more to listen to on YouTube before deciding whether to actually pay to download stuff at iTunes.
