If plant sterols are so effective against too much bad cholesterol, can anyone tell me why they have not been made into some kind of medication for people like me - I am on the top dose of simvastatin and if the bad cholesterol keeps increasing I am wondering what else I can do to control it.
Starby......rojash has given you the answer.....BUT.....the question is.....are they safe to take? My answer to that question would be, that it is questionable as there is some evidence to suggest that they MAY have detrimental effects on certain heart valves.

Thanks everyone, for your answers. I have been drinking one of the little pro-vita drinks made by Flora, every morning, and I think they have reduced it a tiny amount, but not much so I wonder if it could be made stronger. However, if they have a detrimental effect on heart valves, sqad, I think I will probably wait until they have sorted it out before I start going any further. Hope I don't die in the meantime.
