Very probably, yes. Answering the question as to whether or not he was the Son of God though is more contentious.

it's hard to imagine why anyone would want to invent a preacher when there were plenty of real ones around. There's no corroborating contemporary evidence for his life; but then there's no such evidence for the life of virtually anyone below the rank of Caesar in those days. So yes, I would have thought he was real.
