can anyone tell me how long should a battery last on a Samsung Galaxy s3 mini should last mine only seem to last a day . thanks

Depends. Do you have your bluetooth on permanently? Or anything similar running in the background without realising?

Try switching off any bluetooth and wireless networking and only switch them on when required. Maybe these are draining the battery, if in constant use.

Smartphone batteries don`t last very long anyway. I`ve got the Galaxy Ace and if I`m somewhere like a hotel where I can get free wifi and I mess about on the phone (for want of something better to do) I`m lucky if I get one and half hours out of it. It`s ok overnight if it`s switched on and left alone but as soon as I use it, it does use up the battery pretty quickly (and that`s with the 3g off).

My guess it is unlikely to be the battery since they all are either made of the same or similar tech. They're not going to deliberately create a bad impression of their phone by having the official make battery not perform well.

My guess is that it is the drain of the handset design that makes the difference. Like folk suggest, make sure nothing is running in the background that you don't need.

Or maybe invest in a new battery to check if your present one is not still up to the job.

Did you remember to 'condition' the battery when you first got the phone. All new laptop and phone batteries need to be fully charged and then fully discharged several times at the start of their life. ie. it's important NOT to recharge the battery when it's only 'part-used'; if you do that early in the battery's life it will never hold a full charge - you must let it go totally flat a few times to start with.

Well it's in the instructions for my brand new netbook, Hopkirk!

Actually I thought that the 'memory effect' was largely something of the past but I emailed Duracell after experiencing some problems with their current range of rechargeable cells. The reply made it clear that the effect is now diminished but that initial 'conditioning' is still important.
