If the problem persists I'd advise getting the alignment of the aerial checked (or getting a better aerial with a narrower angle of acceptance for incoming signals). However, by chance, I noticed a post earlier this eveningstating that the Northern Lights might be visible in the northernmost parts of the UK tonight. The atmospheric conditions which result in such displays also result in what radio enthusiasts call 'lifts', whereby radio (and TV) signals are bounced off the ionosphere (as well as following their normal direct paths). Such a 'lift' could well be the cause of your problem; if so, it will only last a few hours.

Whilst that would be my thoughts too, it has made me wonder.
With analogue the signal received from different directions (at the same frequency) all sum up to form the final received signal. Difficult to sort out one part from another.
But surely a digital one has to lock into a data stream with start and end markers ? Not that I know, but surely that would be so ?
It seems weird to me any receiver would capture two such streams and feed them both to the TV. I'm just wondering if it a a freeeview receiver issue.
If you have another receiver, perhaps from another room/TV why not swop it with the one you're experiencing a problem with first, to try to isolate if the issue is with the aerial or receiver. (Or TV come to that.)
