Am slightly deaf so had a loud doorbell installed. Chimes in hallway and kitchen. Postie tried to deliver a parcel today - did he ring the doorbell? - like hell he did.
Now I have a 5 mile round trip to collect it. Really pi*ses me off.

My postie is a darling. He leaves stuff in the porch, and will sign a scribble if I'm not in. He also takes my stamped mail away to post for me.
Maggiebee, if indeed he did not ring the doorbell, having to make that trip would be frustrating. However, see [or hear:)] if the doorbell actually rings every time the button is pressed...Sometime these things do malfunction.
.......especially if they're not wired to the mains!
can you not phone them for a redelivery .
My all-time favourite "lazy postman" incident was when he filled in a "you were away" slip while I was there standing at the other side of a translucent door. Literally no more than two feet away from him and he never bothered to look up and check or see me.

My doorbell is hard-wired and very loud. I live in a relatively small house so I can only assume he didn't even bother to ring - perhaps rattled the letterbox - then left. Other delivery companies leave my parcels in the shed but suppose this is against Post Office policy.
that's happened to me often; very annoying. It's possibly just a parcel that was too big so the postie decided not to bother bringing it at all.
complain when you collect it, then, maggie - I've had the same happen to me. Mine said he didn't notice the doorbell (!)
Did he perhaps knock instead of ring? He couldn't know that you are hard of hearing and I get ones with alternating preferences at my door. The delivery system is indeed very *** though recently around here anyway. Knock or ring they only do so once then leave the parcel on the floor, retreating so fast that even when I am sitting about ten feet away from the door they're gone when I get there.
Very unsafe especially when living in an apartment complex, the parcel can easily be stolen. What if the resident was staying with someone else for the night or on vacation.
Another inquiry about your situation, were you in a position to have heard the doorbell? Not say in the shower? I have perfect hearing but can not hear my doorbell from the shower.
The only reason I ask is from experience. I have discovered parcels sitting at my door that due to the timing had to have been delivered either while I was in the shower or still asleep (if I were asleep they obviously knocked as the bell is perfectly hearable from my bedroom even with the bedroom door closed).
