Surely there are laws about maintaining and checking old buildings used for the public? Don't you need certificates for everything these days?

I was on the lower balcony at Shepherds Bush Empire the other week and people were stomping about to the music. I commented on the fact that the place was really old and I hoped the balcony held up. Looks like it wasn`t an idle thought after all.

The roof didn't collapse - some of the ornate plasterwork came away. The roof had been inspected not that long ago, as all theatres must be.
