Hi, We are shortly going to have new floorboards and new carpet in our bedroom, problem is a very large wardrobe, we will of course empty it and can take the doors off, but will be unable to move it out of the room as it was put together inside the bedroom, personally I think once emptied it won't be that heavy, but worried husband wonders how the carpet fitters will manage, any ideas would be a help. Thanks
Had the same problem langara could not remove it,also too large to move out anyway, left it in situ explained to carpet fitters and they laid half the carpet then moved wardrobe to fit other half.
Thanks all exactly what I told, but he's a glass half empty person, thank goodness he's away the week I'm getting it done, so the problem will be all mine.
it might be a good idea though to check with the fitters before they come. moving the wardrobe will make the job take a bit longer so they will need to allow a bit extra time
They'll walk it from the uncarpeted portion to the carpeted portion, and then back again when they have finished.
Anyway it may be possible that it splits into smaller parts when you have emptied and looked at it. I know mine does as I saw it being put together. The shelves below is one part, the main bit sits on that, then the fancy top bit is on top of all.
Just had a new carpet fitted. Told the fitters beforehand that we had a huge and exceptionally heavy display cabinet that couldn't be moved out of the room. Took it in their stride. Said they had the same kind of problem all the time with old dears wanting new carpets who were unable to move stuff.
