why do we have to ask for Crumpets now when we always knew them as Pikelets?

Pikelets are thin,like american pancakes but with holes in them. Crumpets are much thicker with holes in them. This is the word of the great food god Marks & Spencer. Both are vile as your butter and syrup drip through them and ruin your onesie

Tilly2 if you take away the raisins they're pikelets. Crumpets are thicker and more risen

I know what crumpets are, Frognog. They're the ones with holes in the top. The ones that are not pikelets.

Our Welsh pikelets are thinner than a crumpet, more like a cross between a drop scone and a crumpet, and absolutely delicious,
both pikelets and crumpets on the shelves together,
I prefer pikelets, bought 2 packs today.

I had a pikelet, yesterday. My Auntie brought me some down when she came to visit recently. Lovely, it was. Full of juicy currants/raisins.
