Could there be a backlash from the UK white population over the IS? & the people from the UK going out to fight with them?

I think there indeed could, especially if IS do bring the battlefield here. I hope things stay calm and that moderate Muslims continue to decry long and loud the horror that is IS and that common sense prevails and we don't start seeing racial attacks en mass but I'm not holding my breath on that if there is an attack here.

In the seventies eighties there was a backlash against the irish of all colours when in B'ham "they" blew up the mulberry/yard arm

I remember well, I lived there in the 70s.
