Is there anyway a person can check a person's background ? Like if you have a new boyfriend and you want to check their background before introducing them to your children ? ie domestic violence / abuse etc etc.

There was a new law passed in England and Wales that enables you to find out about a new partner.

You should also bear in mind that this is not a straightforward process. It is not just a case of you visiting th epolice station and saying "tell me all you've got on A.N.Other". It does not quite work like that.

You will have to visit the police station to launch the process and will almost certainly be required to attend again for a formal interview. The police do not routinely make enquiries just so that you can be on the safe side. You must have genuine concerns that the safety of you or others may be in jeopardy because of your relationship and you will be required to explain those concerns before further enquiries are made.

You should get to know his family and friends wherever possible before introducing him to your children.
