I was there a few years ago with 3 friends. 3 of us understood that it was originally a sign of peace, but one of the guys was horrified and outraged that it was on buildings, flags, posters etc. He just couldn't see past the Natzi connection.
It's so sad that we just can't reclaim it. I do think it will forever be associated with the Nazis.
