Whats the best stuff to fill in gaps on the patio?

I take it times have moved on from mixing up sand/cement and making a helluva mess!

yes, mix sand and cement and don't make a mess.

You can get products these days that come in powder form in various colours. You just clean out the gaps and brush the powder in. Spray water over the finished patio and the stuff goes off. B&Q stock it.

My daughter had her patio done with it, it looks fine. It's important that the stuff is used correctly. Having said that, if you are only repairing gaps in existing patio paving then sand & cement will probably be cheaper.

I believe I saw a type of Injection grouter gadget specially for gaps in patio.like a syringe full of cement.

You're quite correct retrocop. You can use them for pointing brickwork too.

The dry mix is very good. Just pack it in tightly, and spray with a fine mist of water. Then iron the joint.

The pointing gun is another idea. The mix will be too wet to finish right away, so it should be left for a while to almost dry out.

If you go for traditional sand & cement grouting, then make up the mix with very little water. Damp sand with cement powder is ideal. No more water needed. Grout it in tightly, and iron straight away.

OK thanks all! the patio about 20ft x 10ft so enough to warrant a bag of sand cement.

As the builder suggests it doesn't need to be that wet then maybe it will be easier to work with.
