5 Reasons Not To Upgrade
This guy says why he won't take Windows10. As someone poised to do so, what do you think of his comments please ? the most compelling of which seems to me that it's "free", and one has to wonder, why?

My latest comp mag is also full of issues and recommend wait and see. You still have 10 months or so to do the upgrade for free, once the first upgrades have hopefully cleared any problems.
I'm quite happy using W7 and have no thoughts to upgrading until this PC dies.

It is certainly not free remember if you are not the paying customer you are the product.
I upgraded to Windows 10 on a spare PC and can't disagree with what he has said it is highly intrusive even with all the spyware that can be disabled turned off but for me Hyper V is the reason I won't upgrade I use a number of virtual machines and it is useless for the way I use them.

I am all mac here, its lovely, you work on computer, make a shopping list on iphone, save a note on ipad and it all smoothly appears on all devices and is saved to cloud...same with photos....and no before anyone shouts I have a separate photo and important doc back up too. I have got a teeny windows machine for a couple of programs that don't come in a mac version and don;t worl with parallels or boot camp but i won't replace that when it outdates.
Windows 10 is free for a number of reasons.
1) Windows 8 was awful and MS are desperate to get people off it.
2) It is in Microsoft's interest to get users off as many old versions of Windows as possible to reduce fixes and testing an so on.
3) People don't pay for their OS on their tablets and smartphones so it is harder to get them to pay for it on a PC.
4) The future is "digital download" and you make money that way so MS want as many people as they can to be on Windows so they get a "cut" of the digital download market.

I'm really hesitant to get involved with windows anything.
My main problem is I need to work with Ms Office for a lot of my workflow so I need an OS that will recognise the version (2003! vintage!) that I have a disk for.
I'm not going to pay silly money for a new version of office and I can't use cloud-based versions as many places I work are offline
At least my w7 and even vista recognise my version of office
All my other devices are windows-free, and free OS, so boo.

I suggest you wait until all of the bugs are fixed you have 12 months to install the upgrade . At the moment it is having new issues every day don't be in a hurry to do it. If you must upgrade use the install disc method rather than the download method as sometimes it comes with corrupted files and also is very big download which may exceed your download allocation.
@hc4361.......I guess you must be a really lucky one.
