what does 'gay' mean?

does gay mean 'homosexual'? I thought it does. Why do people then say 'gays and lesbians'? Are lesbians not gay?

Premature termination of a post

Dear AB ED, I have just discovered that a "tab" terminates a posted answer and submits it.  Is this intentional?  It makes it difficult to format numbers in a reply.
