I've been in the loft, doing some sorting out. I looked in a cardboard box and found some LP's.

I discovered the 1st LP I bought in the 60's. It was Thoughts of Emerlist Davjack by The Nice.

What was yours?

Marks out of 10 will be given for musical taste.

The first LP I bought was an Elvis Presley one, can't remember which one.  A birthday present for my siy

//I saw Hawkwind in the 70's.//

I seen Hawkwind few weeks back in Edinburgh

first lp would have been Slade: Slayed

Queen - The Works. (40 this year) I was 12yrs young. Already a Queen fan, Dad had Greatest hits and A night at the opear in his car... listened to a lot when cleaning it. I had the Game on cassette for the 'Ghetto Blaster' and Walkman...That Christmas my eldest Brother got a small record player for our Bedroom... so began my lifelong Queen collection on Vinyl.

My first LP must have been something by Toyah. I don't remember buying it but I got it in the pre-internet days.

I do remember my first vinyl single: 9 to 5 by Sheena Easton.

Parallel lines by blondie.

My first LP was an Elvis one that I won in a competition, but I didn't have a record player so gave it to my best friend who had a Dansette.

Credence Clearwater

Mine was Please Please Me by the Beatles.

I've decided not to award marks, as it will cause an inevitable row. Otherwise, it was an eclectic mix of music, thanks for your replies.

Bridge Over Troubled Waters

Aqualung - Jethro Tull and

Who's Next by the Who

both bought at the same time!

Within the rock genre, that's quite a broad span. I prefer the Who. In the punk days I heard Bethnal's version of Baba O'Riley (at a Clash gig I think). Superb.

I think it was Rubber Soul LP by Beatles. Still love the songs now.

Charity shops I find are a goldmine for CD's. At my last visit I bought a best of REM, the Beatles no 1's and radiohead ok computer,  all for £1-00.

Rubber Soul was basically a transitional LP,Patsy. The Beatles were transitioning from marijuana to LSD.Their next three LPs were much better.

Never really took to The Fab Four until Sgt Pepper. Always thought they were a 'girl's' band.

I'm just the opposite, Ken; I thought Pepper was the end of the line for the Beatles.

Isn't it funny how we extol the virtue of musicians on drugs but athletes are hung, drawn and quartered if only a trace of drugs is found.

Honestly, I can't remember. Any of the first albums from...Joan Baez, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkle...or Credence Clearwater Revival, Carole King. Had to be mid 60s...🤔 🤣

This was almost certainly my first LP.  I bought it because the ads for it on Radio Caroline suggested that it would definitely be 'the next big thing in music' and I'd therefore be 'getting in ahead of the crowd'.  I'm still waiting for that crowd to follow me though 😉

retrocop, when my uncle died a couple of years ago he'd left a great big stack of 78's. Lots of Frank Sinatra in there, Guy Mitchell etc. They were all still in their original sleeves. I gave them all to the YMCA charity shop.
