did I miss that in the link?
It's good to see that some communities respect the old traditions. This style may not be to everyone's taste but a wedding is the brides day.
Question Author
i thought working and paying tax was an old tradition !
You might look down your nose at them, but perhaps they could teach the rest of a few things?

"But despite the tender age of these brides - and sometimes the grooms - these marriages are usually guaranteed to go the distance because of strong religious and traditional convictions.
Young girls are virgins when they marry, as having children out of wedlock is considered taboo and divorce out of bounds"

Quite a refreshing change isn't it?

Oh and did your bigotted viewpoint fail to notice this bit?

"She has a job, but it was soon revealed that this was only to help finance the wedding and she will quit and become a full time housewife once she has married."

Yes, its tacky, no it wouldn't be my choice to have a wedding like that ,but As i see it it's their choice, their day, and nothing to do with us.
We may see them as a bit tacky, OTT and Jordan-esque in their outward appearance, but like Boo says - divorce is practically unheard of, no children born out of wedlock, traditional values within their community....

maybe we shouldn't be so quick to mock?
if the DM is talking 'tack' I would say Jordans wedding was 'tack'
these gypsy weddings are their tradition whether we believe in them or not
Live and let live I say !
im not cathilic but my youngest daughter went to a catholic school and mixed with a lot of traveller families, ok i dont agree with sitting on bums letting all and sundry pay for weddings but they are the friendliest kindest people you could wish to meet
i cant see any of the sort of "gypsys" we get around here having that sort of lifestyle.

the true gypsy lifestyle may well include these OTT weddings but they dont harm anyone. Though i have to say that fake tan, ginger hair and a blue and green dress is worth watching on Thursday lol

Really?

Why do you say that?

Know any travellers?

Where do you get your info from? I'm not saying you're wrong...I'm just completely ignorant because I don't know any travellers myself...so couldn't comment, because I'd be afraid of people thinking that I was just some sad bigot.
Doesn't seem any more tacky than the wedding of Charles and Diana, to me.
Aah gypsy weddings...looks a lot more interesting and colorful then some of the weddings I've been to! In this world of ever declining traditional values and respect I welcome and salute these gypsy king and queens.
I'm sure there's already been a program similar to this, if not solely focused on gypsy/roma/traveller weddings definitely featured one!
They are not gypsies they are pikeys, and all pikeys are theives

irrespective of how its paid for...the dresses etc are absolutely gross! as was Jordan's, I might add. they clearly have very little taste and more money than sense!!!! when i got married i tried on a meringue for a laugh, but these take the biscuit.

Try living in Bopurnemouth, they may stick to their maraige vows and love their religion but what relgion has the phrase, "thou shalt rob and theive anything that isn't nailed down" or what about "Thou shalt trespass on others land and make their lives a misery"

Kin Parasitical scum, cost my local sports clus 7k last year when they camped on our sports pitches living like the sub human slime they are leaving sh1te everywhere. Tell you what Boo/sp1814, you put them up see what happens, kin scum end of.

I don't have to.

I live in Islington.

With all the 4x4s and farmer's markets, there's no room for travellers' sites.

Still don't understand the 'they're all thieves' thing. I don't remember having any issues with the travellers' families I used to knock around with back when I lived near the Old Kent Road. I suppose you it's all down to perception.
Live where I do (near to Redcrx) and I afraid the tolerance disappears.
