I have just repotted a very healthy lemon plant into a much larger pot. I have left approx 1.5 inches at the top so I can top it off with something that will prevent the soil attracting those pesky small flies- should I pop a layer of fish tank gravel topped off with the white stones I used in the base of the pot for drainage

TIA
