How Suspensions will work this weekend
146 Answers
Afternoon all,
I've noticed the nastiness has crept back into ChatterBank.
I'd prefer it if we kept it to medium strength banter and level 4 "cut & thrust" please. Exceeding these limitations (or breaking the rules) will have you suspended.
While usually a suspension lasts a few days, typically a weekend, we're applying a new rule for this weekend, which, if it works, may remain for the long term.
Suspensions which take place this weekend will be reviewed on Monday by the editorial team. Suspensions, at this point, may be lifted. Those which are not (i.e. the suspensions are completely vaild, as most of them will be) with continue until the following monday.
At that point the suspension will be lifted - unless the user has returned with a new/other username or caused trouble in other ways (for example, sending a snarky email to us). If a suspended user causes trouble suspension will roll on for another week - or a ban will be put in place and the user will be bannished to the Swamp Of Unpleasent Odours.
Okay, you have been warned! Enjoy your weekend!

Hi karenmac - yes, I wondered how that worked, some Aber who continually behaves in a racist and abusive manner accuses two perfectly innocent users of being the same person, they get suspended (although almost immediately reinstated - so sense prevailed) and yet they carry on with the same behaviour with no sanction. At least I am presuming that's why we were suspended.

/// "i have noticed the nastiness has crept back into chatterbank" why was it allowed to " creep " back in the first place ? if the nastiness has been noticed , surely the abers who perpetuate " the nastiness " should be monitored, rather than all AB being given a lecture re behaviour? ///
This is us noticing - this is us nipping it in the bud. We could talk to everyone individually, but then, that might be a little time consuming - as I am sure you can imagine.
To those having a bit of a moan: If someone is breaking the rules, report them. It'll help more than posting about it here.
All the best,
Spare Ed
