suggestions for rainy weather included
(i) Abbott Hall, the Parish Church (2nd largest in England) in Kendal
(ii) The steamboat museum on Rayrigg Road, Bowness and part of the Nat Maritime Museum
(iii) The antiquarian bookshops of Sedbergh then to head to Dent/over the top to Barbon and
(iv) Kirkby Lonsdale for its quaint shops
(v) Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall (within 3 miles of each other - Levens for the topiary as well
(vi) Muncaster Castle (ghosts et al)
(vii) Penrith for shops and the best Cumberland Sausage
Farm shops include one just outside Sizergh and the M6 stop at Killington south bound (yes I am serious and was a candidate for the best in Britain)
