My question will , I know be easily answered by ChuckFickens or someone of similar Knowledge. I made the mistake of requesting a particular site to "Unsubscribe" me which has resulted in me now receiving 20 / 30 spam mails per day minimum. I have installed "Spamfighter Pro" which does stick them all in "Deleted Items" folder but wont deploy them to the "Spam" folder automatically as they should. I have to manually clear them myself. The guys in Denmark now say the reason is I have "Message Rules" operating in Outlook Express but I think I would cause myself a bigger problem if I turned it off. Therefore have you any suggestions please as to how I can rid myself of spam without de-selecting "Message Rules" and more importantly, not having to change my email address again. Many thanks....Tel

Select tools > message rules > mail and simply take the tick out from next to the rules you want to disable, if it doesn't help just put the tick back again.

Firstly, you can't stop the spam, now you are on the lists all you can do is deal with it when it comes in.

First thought.... do what the support guys have told you to do and disable the rule that is causing the problem, you don't have to delete the rule, you can just switch it off to see if it helps, if it doesn't then switch it back on again.

You can also set outlook to automatically clear the deleted items on exit if you don't like having to do it manually.

Thanks ChuckFickens, Glad you are out there....Can you tell me how I switch off the Message Rules as a temporary measure in order to give it a try as you suggest.
Thanks again. Tel

Login to your Webmail .. INSTEAD of using your home email client.
Have a look at THEIR spam features.
You may be able to filter SOME at source there .. and they won't be delivered.
This works with Orange.
If you go there every month and check the inbox folder there .. add a few rules on the webmail and try it!
As Chuck points out, you can't prevent the spam from being received by your email provider's server. However you might be able to prevent it from being downloaded to your PC. (i.e. you can get it deleted from your provider's server, so that you won't have to worry about using Outlook Express's message rules).

To do so, you need to install a free program called Mailwasher. The product's website is currently down but you can still download it from here:

When my husband died I "unsubscribed" his address from a lot of things that he had been interested in. Is this why his address satrted sending these awful "one liners" to his address book?
