As the Libyan government accuses NATO of killing civilians in an airstrike, some other facts have emerged, that being the cost to the British taxpayer of again getting involved in other's affairs.
/// The cost of Britain's military operations in Libya could run 'into the hundreds of millions', the Government has admitted.///
/// Treasury Chief Secretary Danny Alexander said the campaign was currently costing the taxpayer 'tens of millions' but spending would rise as operations continued. ///
/// Chancellor George Osborne told the Commons back in March the operation would cost 'in the order of tens of millions of pounds, not hundreds of millions'.///
/// Mr Alexander insisted the money is coming from the reserve set aside for contingencies.///
They always seem to have some money set aside in some pot or other, except when some money is urgently needed by the British people.
/// Shadow defence secretary Jim Murphy said: 'We support the mission in Libya but the Government need to be clearer on the costs.' ///
Why is this farcical venture so supported by all other parties, have we learned nothing from Iraq and Afghanistan?
