Elvis: where where you when you got the news?

Ric,ror has just pointed out today's significance - the anniversary of Elvis either dying or going to work in Walmart, Albuquerque.
So where were you when you got the news?
I was planning my fieldwork dissertation for my archaeology degree......the Lune valley seemed somehow less exciting afterwards....

It came on the news when my radio alarm clock went off early in the morning. I was on day shift back in the days when I worked shift. Funny how much detail one remembers.

I was walking to school. It was the first day of term and I was off to start third year at a new school (same school but different location/building).

I saw Elvis the other day - not looking too healthy

The thing is, Elvis was very uncool at that time - but it had a definite impact. I suppose for me it was the first of the greats to go - pre-Lennon...was it pre-Bolan?
