Removing posts -> confusion

Hello Ed,

When you remove a post, it often makes the rest of the thread look like total insanity.  Is there any chance you could leave behind a sort of footprint to say "There used to be a post here, but I've removed it".  If possible, those of us who had posted in response to said removed post, could then somehow add a little (footprint) symbol to our subsequent posts to show that we were referring to a post that has since been removed.

I totally understand that removing posts is very important, but it doesn't half lead to some confusion!!

If anyone else agrees, or can suggest a better way of combatting the little problem, that would be fab! :-)

even more confusing: you post a response to something. Robots remove it. You post again saying 'Oops, my post was removed.' AB Ed returns from the races and restores the original post. You can either post again, explaining why you seem to be having hallucinations, or go stand under a cold shower for a while.

Totally agree acw. I once replied to a post that was removed that made my remaining post look offensive to the original question asker, I emailed ed and luckily the post was restored. It really worried me how easily what you posted could be misinterpreted when what you're referring to is removed.

Thank you.  Please can someone explain why this question has been reported (as the option has gone - unless that's cos I'm logged in as me, and cos I wouldn't report myself).  also - Why have the first 2 posts been reported?  I hasten to add that it wasn't me who reported.  If I was going to do so - I'd say so first! :-p

You can't report yir own answer and I think ABE has said before that it may be because it's been reported but the goblins or the pixies have said it's okay. That means they can spend more time pressing the grapes and flogging the wine at extortionate prices to the passing American tourists. That may not have been ABE's exact words but that was the gist.

Which still means someone reported it?  Why?

The options are:

• Incorrect category - no it's not
• Not a question - Yes it is - and i'm not the first person to forget to put a ? in!!
• Duplicate question - Well I can't see it having been asked recently
• Profane - Nope
• Sexually explicit - Nope
• Abusive - Nope
• Contains email address - Nope
• Imposter - NOPE
• Other - come on baby - try me!

So my only explanaition is - petty anti-acw reporting.  Thank you bots/ABE for ignoring the report. 

To the person who reported the question - please in future post an answer to tell me you have a problem.  I would like the opportunity to personally apologise and/or defend myself.  Thank you.

there's no report button on any of my questions - at least as seen by me. Not even the most demented impostor would report his/her own questions, presumably, so this is probably true of you too. Not that I want to spoil a good conspiracy theory, mind.
