Just a few weeks. You don't have to log in you can just close the screen. I think it's to encourage new users to sign up.
Every time the laptop goes to sleep, I have to log in again. How are you feeling now?

You don't have to log in to view the site, just hit the X on the light box, and the sign up screen goes.

still rubbish!
It's most annoying even just hitting the X all the time.
I haven't had to log in for months and months even when I've shut down my laptop, maybe because I never clear caches etc etc ? In fact I don't understand what you mean.
Only if I switch fron Laptop to Netbook (Facebook is the same...)
Sometimes I can shut laptop down at night ( I never sign out ) and when I come back in the morning I am still signed in,
and other days I have to sign in over and over again, dont know why, its a mystery. X
Well, if you're deleting your cookies/history/cache regularly then you're going to get kicked out. The simple answer is: don't do that.
Confused. I thought we were suppose to clear our cookies/history/cache on a regular basis.
Actually, I'm not sure I know what the issue is: can you clarify?
"Confused. I thought we were suppose to clear our cookies/history/cache on a regular basis."

Can you tell me why? :)
Just reading what people say on here. Someone posts about a minor problem and are often advised to clear cookies/history/cache.

Not that I do it!! :-)
Here are two:
So no-one can check up on which sites I've been visiting?
So if anyone uses my PC they can't log into sites like this as me.
"So no-one can check up on which sites I've been visiting?
So if anyone uses my PC they can't log into sites like this as me."

These are excellent reasons.

But if you're doing it "just 'cos" then you haven't got a good reason for it :)

You're right Umm, it does get mentioned a lot, but it's unlikely to fix very much (except in specific cases).

Is the original question about the lightbox for non-logged in users?
I think it is.
FWIW I have to sign in everytime I visit if I want to ask a question or reply. I have looked and can't find a 'keep me signed in' option, just a 'remember me' option which is ticked but everytime I visit the site I am signed out -even if my PC just goes to sleep, when I visit again I'm signed out.
