Ok I know, I've probably been here long enough that I already ought to know, but do threads get culled here ?

I ask because I wanted to find an older thread in the Science topic area, one I didn't recall the title of but was hoping to open a few likely ones until I found it, only to find there have only ever been 2 pages worth of threads in that topic: ever.

Surprised me since I thought one raison d'être for this place was as a fount of knowledge for folk to check, as well as an instant response site.

They "drop off" at a certain point. You should be able to find older ones though...

... I'll investigate!

At my age I drop off at a certain point also. Usually any time between 20:00 and 23:59.

Yes, after a few weeks they just move from being under the default 'recent posts' tab to under the 'Answered Posts' tab
Are you sure you're not just looking at the 'most recent tab' which for me only has 29 answers, if you go along to 'answered' there are 6000+
