The weekend is here. :o} I'm on the canal at 9, got some shoplifting to do first, so must be away from here at 7, it'll take that long to make meself look something resembling 'oomun. Meeting my friends from Yate at the Stables for breakfast at ten, so must have the heritage centre ready to open as soon as we have finished breakfast. They will want to come in and have a look around, also transfer 'the cake' from my car to theirs. KIt is finally to be handed over! :o}
Foxy was in a bit early last night, 9.30, I'd put some food our for him, he ate one bit and picked up the rest and took it away. 'Right, thinks I,' I'll put some out for tiggy. Half an hour later foxy was back an nicked it. Cheeky little git! I waited until tiggy tripped the lights at about 11, then put some out for him while he was sorting out some slugs and snails up the end.
Out and about this morning a few more of the usual suspects were about, but not loitering, with or without intent. I did see another fox trying to mug a bunny. No chance, he needs to go back to school. Further down the lane a group of about 4 -5 badgers were looking for some mischief to get up to. A group of deer, not enough to be a herd, were in the field on the hillside.
Whenever I see a 'good morning' thread from Waterboatman I know that I really, really ought to go to bed!
However I'm now concerned to find that we seem to have a serial miscreant in our midst (as witnessed by the throwaway line 'got some shoplifting to do first'). Don't worry though, WBM. If you nick an iPad for me, I promise to keep quiet about it ;-)
Actually, not me, Jeffa. (I just chose something that sounded expensive!). I wouldn't want to be stuck with an Apple product.
>>>How you doing?
Good morning (properly!) WBM. Thanks for your nature report, which I enjoyed reading.
I'm doing fine, thank you but (as always when I've got no work on) I seem to be becoming nocturnal and I've just switched from the grape to the hop! (That's not actually quite as bad as it sounds. It's taken me several hours to drink one and a half small glasses of wine and, rather than open another bottle, I'm drinking a single bottle of stout that I found)
Sounds good to me chris. :o} The wildlife keep me amused when the weather allows. The ones that come into my garden do so whatever the weather, they know they are guaranteed a meal. When I'm at home anyway. Thanks. I'm glad you enjoy reading about them.
Oh I don't know, jeffa, mine has got me out of some sticky spots when the laptop has spat the dummy !!
Morning guys...boatyxx, Chris and the familyxx, jeffa
thanks for the wildlife report, boaty, all we need are the web cams !! have a great day, I'm off to nurse my cold in front of the fire [ oddly enough, with my ipad] cheers xx
Morning seekz. xxx Sympathy for you and your cold, no fun at all. The wildlife are out on public land, down wee lanes etc. Apart from the miscreants that come into my garden. They are fun to watch. I'm hoping the pair of foxes that like watching the dawn do so again when the ground dries enough. I tried to photograph them but they were having none of it.
If 'the heritage centre' in your post, WBM, means the one I think it does ('cos I only catch your posts occasionally and don't really know that much about you) aren't you all off the Bradford on Avon today? (Isn't Google wonderful!)
Hi, Seekerz. I'm sorry to hear that you've got a cold (and I'm particularly sympathetic to cold sufferers at the moment 'cos Patches has just got over cat flu).
Good morning Boatie and others. Once again I enjoyed your nature diary,you are so lucky to have such a wealth of wildlife so close. It was 31 when I got up at 6 and rest of weather report as usual. GY having a lie in as it's first day of working week tomorrow . Enjoy your day.
No Chris. It's at Saul Junction on the Gloucester and Sharpness canal in Gloucestershire. It belongs Cotswold Canals Trust. We are restoring the inland waterways link between the rivers Severn and Thames.
Morning GY xxx It would take a lot to make me move from here. I'm always up early. If I'm in bed at 4 I'm having a lie in. :o} Most of the wildlife I see have got used to me and either nod as if to say 'Morning squire.' or just ignore me completely, which in itself is a complement. :o}
Morning beej. God plan, but I think the council might cast a jaundiced eye. Besides, if anyone else is daft enough to be out at that time the wildlife leg it. It's taken me 14 years to get to know them.
About yous?
Morning all. The local foxes have just been into garden and have eaten all the bird seed - AGAIN!!! The birds are hungry because the local cats and foxes eat their food. If you were to give a cat a big dish of bird seed, they'd give you a filthy look, pack their bags and move to a better billet. I bought a cat scarer this week and it has not worked. Maybe I need to buy a lion !!
Thanks for those chris. I will look at the second one later today. The friend I'm meeting for breakfast at the stables are the Mayor of Yate and his lovely wife. They are very good friends and knew Vera well too.
