I have been giving a lot of serious thought to this matter and have come to the conclusion that it might be appropriate to keep any issues with the Ed (male or female) on a purely formal basis. Accordingly, I am now suggesting that the most appropriate address would be.......Dear Sir or Madam AB Editor.....I would certainly avoid 'Hi Ed' or other such casual greetings.
