something in the back of my mind is telling me the word being changed on here is more to do with a previous user than the actual word itself. It was done to discourage discussion about 'em.

Exactly, and as evidenced above and in the 'shower' thread, the comedians come out - I am not a killjoy and love humour but when someone wants DIY advice (or as Chris says advice re a female dog) it messes up the thread.
