Grr Site Getting Overtaken Again
57 Answers
Ed I'm posting this in frustration as I don't think you will do anything about it but all evening I've had to shut down AB about 10 times because it gets overtaken with adobe flash update ads, flirchi, arrows., warnings about MS threats, more I can't remember. Surely you want this fixed for the benefit of users. What exactly is the problem?
Yes I've run a scan and antimalware with no threats. Still keeps happening - only on AB (heard that before?)

i use a company supplied resource for which i do not have administrator rights. it has internet explorer and no advert filter facility. i cannot change any of the default settings, and i cannot install any other browser, or any add-on utility.
is this the end of using this site, for people like me that cannot switch?

Sadly, until the admin team do something radical, Adblock seems to be the only answer.
They are shooting themselves in the foot at the moment by allowing this to continue for so long.
I know adverts are the bread and butter of the site, but taking them down until a fix can be found is the only way to fix this before you lose all the customers, the people who see the ads.

I know that the EDs had to do some work behind the scenes to get rid of a problem last week and it may be they will need to do the same thing for the latest. I installed an "unmentionable" and malwarebytes last week but that works only if I use wi-fi because it's the advanced version of the "unmentionable" I installed.
AB accepts adverising from a variety of sources. There are 4 advertising spaces and I think 3 companies populating those spaces. In those spaces are a selection of different advertisers serving up different ads.
The space under Latest posts is Google Ads and is probably not the problem.
Either one (or more) of the advertisers is introducing a script which is intrusive and spoiling our enjoyment.
It might be that AB Admin do not know which one, or that there is no one looking after the site this weekend.
This has be going on a recurring for months. If the same ad company is responsible then AB should seriously think about not taking their money, because they are causing long to harm to the site.

G'afternoon Prudie..... I am applauding your posting and hope that, upon the Ed's return from his weekend away from AB Towers, issues will be taken very seriously and appropriate action taken to resolve matters.
I am somewhat afraid to say too much because I am aware that, irrespective of one's technical knowledge (mine is very limited) it is best to try and avoid a nasal issue. In other words I wish to avoid getting up anybody's nose and end up as Expelled, Banned, User Inactive or Suspended.
Hans.
