Some of the modern malware is very devious and technically very clever if it wasn't such a menace and invasion of privacy. But nearly all of it can be got rid of without reformatting. It might be worth going straight for the big guns. Download and run Stinger from HERE. This will get most of them. Download the standalone version of CWShredder from HERE. It is also worth getting the Microsoft Anti-Spyware program from HERE. All of the above software is free.

In particular, Hijack This will examine your computer and produce a log file which you can then post on a web forum where a tech-head will look over it and guide you step by step through removing the bad stuff.
