New Site Downtime: Monday 12O'clock

Good afternoon,

We're going to start launch process for the new site at 12o'clock on Monday. This means the site will be inaccessible.

You can come chat to us on facebook, or twitter - both of which will be manned/womanned by site editors.

Because we have to take a back-up of the ENTIRE database and apply a new lick of paint, this will take several hours. I'd plan something else for Monday afternoon (or join us on our facebook page, where we can give realtime updates regarding our hairlines).

Thanks to all the beta testers for your feedback, and everyone for their patience. It's been a long while coming, but I think the new AB will please.

A techie friend has shown me that it is possible to see the AB facebook page without being on facebook myself :

Just click on the (small) 'not now' words if you get an irritating full page banner.

There is a smaller banner at the bottom of the page - but I can peer round that.

And if this works I expect a special badge for my amazing techy knowledge!.....☺

At mid-day (every day) my wife and I have a few glasses each of Sherry. Next Monday we have in mind opening a bottle (maybe even two) of Cava, which is as good as Champagne; at a fraction of the price.

The web address of the 'new' AB will be the same as that of the existing version, so your browser should see it as the same site (and therefore continue to log you in automatically).

If you're still worried though, just tell us (before Monday!) which web browser you're using and we'll tell you how to find where your AB password is stored, so that you can view it.

The current mobile site gives the option of going to the desktop version and that's the one I use on my 'phone. Will that be the same from Monday?

I don't think there's any change of address at all but do remember it will be down for a few hours.
