The Ad That Must Not Be Named...

As we are all well aware we have had an incredibly irritating issue with a particularly clever ad that seemed determined to interrupt specific people on our lovely site.

We have been working hard over the weekend to get to the root of this. And our techie gnomes have discovered it likes to be named, so any threads naming this ad (beginning with a 'g', and ending with an 's') were triggering the ad to show.

For this reason we have deleted all threads, both old and new, that mention this terrible ad by name. It's not that we're deleting your threads because we don't care - quite the opposite!

The advice of 'please clear your cache' still stands true, if you have seen the ad, please clear your cache (comment below if you need any help on your specific browser, but a quick google should help you). And let's never talk of this terrible ad again! Doing so will cause it to rear it's ugly head!

“I’d say to your employer the ad is affecting all sites on the Pc”

Unless he’s not meant to be using his time/the work computers for surfing or just doesn’t want the boss to see this site/his username and watch/monitor his q’s and a’s

I’m sorry for saying this as many are goiiing through issues but it is amazing to be caught right in the middle of this without being affected and see how these things work and evolve when usually I just read about it.
Gromit, I don’t buy the trigger thing, to detect a trigger some code must be running so if it’s running anyway it doesn’t need a trigger. I access lots of sites and only on AB does this happen. I have not seen it on other sites.
Obviously it want to be the site you are looking at so if it manages to make AB the trigger why not all sites? Pretty poor malware that relies on only one site?
Others: yes I can bring in a tablet but really I cannot see why AB cannot fix this, also I have registered the site to be blocked but with my company that is a faff.

Ttt, have you considered making a complaint on gms’s Trustpilot page and linking your threads there to here?

They always look in respond and as a large retail company may not be aware of this and would be horrified to know this is happening and stamp it out immediately?

I have think it could work,

This ad is only affecting some abers but not all of us. Why don't you get some idea of the browsers they are using and go from there. Would that help?

andres done all that to death. I work in IT on Mainframe I'm not an expert on webbery etc but I have a pretty good knowledge. Believe me I have tried everything conceivable and I know I'm not allowed to say it but 100% it's AB that some how is invoking the unmentionable. Would anyone design something so irritating to get their shopping site up in front of viewers and then limit it to one niche website?
jahul who are trustpilot?
getting the g here as well, in chrome and firefox, both have popup blockers, and yes cleared cache history etc ccleaner

Ttt truspilot are a platform where you can leave a review about a company, website, hotel, restaurant etc...

Google gms and trustpilot and you can see the reviews there or any other companies customer reviews.
The gms site has pretty bad reviews for shipping plus wrong sized garments etc...

One of my first questions and the first question regarding this site was “ has anyone used *Ad which shall not be named*. Com but has since been removed after the “don’t mention its name” scare.

Reminds me of the horror movie candyman where you mention his name 5 times and he appears, lol

We appreciate and understand the frustration this is still causing some members. We would like to thank members for informing us that this is still an issue as here at AB Towers the issue has gone.

We are continuing to work towards a solution for those still affected. Please bear with us as we will need your help with testing a few things.
happy to help with testing.
Thank goodness that that ad has gone. (So you are now officially 'Goodness' Ab Editor.) I can't do techie stuff and haven't a clue how to 'clear my cache' (whatever that is) - but it's gone, phew!
