I can’t even respond to the last poster there to ask her to mind her manners. Since there’s no message from the Editorial staff I assume that this has been done on the whim of a mod. Please sort it out, Ed. When discussions are halted in full flow for no apparent reason it becomes a waste of time contributing at all. The Islam thread went the same way … twice!
As far as I'm aware, this post breaks no rules.... but this fairly recent practice really is becoming very frustrating to the more serious posters here, especially if they've taken the time and trouble to research complex issues.

From previous comments it's very clear that not many on here actually know, or are friends, with any Muslims.
I was at work and read maggiebee's post
I can never be bothered typing out longish replies on my phone but I thought...when I get to my comp I will post a longish reply.
I don't believe the Eid thread i s closed, Naomi. I've just subscribed to it.
There's a bug in the software which "removes" a subscribed thread from your list if the most recent answer has been removed.

//Give somebody a bit of power, and don't be surprised when they use it simply because they can. Litter wardens, police, the European Union, and of course, the AB mods//
How true.
Answers removed, closed threads, deleted threads.
Before long there will only be mods and their sychophants left on this site.
jackthehat, //Islamic law requires two women witnesses to every one male witness, why accusations of rape by women require four male witnesses to support those accusations, and why women seeking divorce encounter far more obstacles than men.//
It is not an inconvenient truth - it's rude. That requires research. Now will you please stop disrupting this thread. It isn't helpful.
I'm inclined to think that the ability for a Mod to close a thread is causing far more trouble than its worth.
Either a thread as a whole should be deleted (if it's descended into pointless name calling and abuse from entrenched positions) or just individual offending posts should be zapped.
I might propose that perhaps a Mod could *temporarily* close a thread whilst he/she removes a bunch of contentious material, but it should then promptly be re-opened?
