Ed This Site Is Getting Unusable......

So slow I now type elsewhere and paste it. It takes an eternity to load all the ads, at home it's much quicker but at work I have to endure. I know we need the ads but surely if it's getting rid of punters it's self defeating.

If anyone else is having trouble with the site being slow, please let me know here. (It runs fine on my computer so it can be difficult to replicate the problem here or to know if it's a widespread problem.)

A few have mentioned increased Ads Ed, and some mention 'floating' ones too.

I use an iPad and have currently got 4 large ads down the right-hand side and the very annoying pop-up one across the bottom, which when scrolling to press the answer button is very intrusive. The side ones I can just about put up with but the pop-up at the bottom is driving me insane! I'm fed up with it and it's only appeared since the blue privacy settings button appeared. How do I get rid of it permanently?
I've resisted using the technological solution that is very popular (but should not be mentioned). However, on my (5-year-old) tablet, the page-load times were getting silly due to the number of adverts, so I implemented it on there. The site is usable once more.
It boils down to if the site becomes unusable, then either we don't visit the site, or we employ work-arounds. Either way, the proliferation of adverts is ending up reducing the number of ad views .
In particular, the blue settings button highlights just how many tracking cookies the site wants to install.
I don't have a solution for you, but that is my feedback. The increase in the number of ads and the bandwidth and the location of the ads has driven me (and maybe others) to adopt a solution that is detrimental to the site.
