Is there any reason why we can't have a list of moderators. it all seems a bit cloak and dagger on this site. And surely there should be a facility to contact a moderator if necessary. At the very least we should get recognition that a report has been acknowledged and is being looked into.

Moderators aren't notified about reported posts. Only the editorial team see reports.

But then they shouldn't be moderators. They would not be known personally, only by their AB name. What is the point of undercover monitors. I also believe moderators can't see when posts have been reported.

I think the problem is that we only know about 5 mods, out of however many there are... so they get blamed for everything. I don't think it particularly matters who is who, but I think the rules should be made a bit more uniform.

It would be easier of everyone posted as if everyone they were addressing was a moderator....

Our moderators have been selected for their abilities to moderate whilst remaining impartial. They act in accordance with The AnswerBank's Site Rules.

Rest assured that all reports are acknowledged. If you wish to contact a moderator then instead contact The Editor.

Reports that are made over the weekend are assessed first thing on Monday morning.

Nellie.....as long as there are moderators, this topic has and will arise.

My advice has always been....just post what you feel and hope for the best........if posts are pulled, then so be it.

Nellie, I don't think that the editorial team work at the weekend. Same advice to you as I gave to Ummmm.If you think a moderator is abusing his position the you should report it.
