//If you do that the News section will die as it’s just about the only story.//
That's because the only news in the papers or on TV at present is the virus. There must be other things going on. Murders, robberies, all sorts. But its Covid, Covid, Covid. There's only so much that can be reported: the latest numbers, the latest episode of ineptitude by NHS managers and politicians and any new developments regarding a cure or a preventative measure. But on it goes. We get reports on the lockdown from six different parts of the country each night (all near enough identical not only to each other but to previous offerings); we get a completely incomprehensible report from inside a hospital where viewers don't have clue what's being said because all the speakers are encased in masks and other protection; we get a slot on some "virtual" concert or other that somebody who nobody knows has arranged with their friends and family. The Covid news can be covered in five minutes: latest figures and any developments. It is extremely tedious and that's why the AB's News section is similarly so.
