For the well being and smooth running of AB, might I suggest that you have a word with a pressured Mod concerning his arrogant ,unsympathetic and confrontational approach to his role on this website.

Please take this as an official complaint.

The Ed is in a no-win position.

He knows who moderates and now, so only he knows how accurate accusations of bias are, and is unable to advise that information because it stops the Moderators operating properly if their decisions are exposed to constant scrutiny and criticism by the AB'ers at large.

He does the sensible thing and steps back.

There is nothing to be gained by engaging with the endless sniping and speculating by the tiny minority of trouble-makers.

Moderators act as they see fit - if the Ed deems actions to be inappropriate, he will adjust accordingly, and if he perceives that any Moderator is abusing their position, then their status is removed.

That's a decision for the Ed and Team alone, not influenced by any petty pointless personal vendettas offered by strangers against strangers.

And that is why the site continues to function well, twenty-two years and counting ...

Fair enough Ed, but if Sqad turns gamekeeper, how is he going to moan about a colleague, when he'd probably rather do as he does now, criticise from the sidelines, which is a far easier option.

I would only want to accept Sqad as a Moderator if it was known that he was now operating as such.

That way it would be fair for him to endure the criticism and attacks on his integrity that are suffered by other known Moderators.

After years of saying (in many words) moderators could be anonymous AND saying you are an ordinary user with as much right to post as anyone else, you are now saying you want a moderator to be outed if they become one AND that you would only accept him as a moderator if that was so.

I was being sarcastic - an antidote to the over-seriousness with which some people treat the notion of Moderation and Moderators on the site.

Some people are in danger of combusting in a cloud of their own outrage - it's really not worth taking seriously.
