Hi, I'm not sure if this is the best place to put this question.

Is there a way to privately contact someone on AnswerBank without it being public? I need to get a message to someone but I need it to be private. Any ideas?

It can be passed along through a moderator however this also has to be private. It's not a personal thing but it is something I don't want everyone to see.

Thanks :)

The easiest way is to post an 'FAO' message to the relevant person, asking them to get in touch with you and providing a throwaway email address for them to do so. You could try Ed or an FAO for the person asking for a throw away emaild address
You could try a throw away email address.
The easiest way is to post an 'FAO' message to the relevant person, asking them to get in touch with you and providing a throwaway email address for them to do so. (NB: If you go down that route, state clearly in your post that you're using a disposable email address, solely for that contact. The Ed disapproves of members giving out their regular email addresses on the site and posts containing them are likely to be removed).

In very exceptional circumstances, it has been known for the Ed to pass on a "Please get in touch with me via this address" message from one member to another. (I've had a couple of such requests over the years). However, contrary to what you've suggested in your post, only the Ed can do so, as moderators do not have any access to the email addresses of members.

tiggerblue10, please email me on [email protected] - I can't really say any more than that I'm afraid. It is important though.
Question Author
P.S it is a throwaway.

Thanks everyone. Thank you Buenchico for your detailed answer, you haven't disappointed me :) I respect your advice.
Did you really want me to contact you?

I would need to create a throwaway email address myself in that case.
Question Author
tiggerblue10: Yes I do. Alternatively you could get someone you trust to email me and they can pass the message on. It doesn't need to be direct.
Will do in a bit as I'm in a meeting at the moment.
You can email me on [email protected]

I've just created it.
Question Author
Thank you, I've emailed you.
Question Author
I'm not sure if you've got my email, Tigger. It says it has sent.
she might be on her way home from work or picking up little tigger from school.
or still in the meeting
Is it only me that finds this all a bit creepy? Shouldn't someone be giving tiggerblue advice on the dangers of private correspondence with anonymous people on the net?
We have used the throwaway method for ages, it's how I met Redman, the other method is use another social media method like Facebook use the same avatars and play hunt the user!
Tiggers a FB friend of mine currently inactive so as suggested still on her travels maybe.
MEAGHAN, the e-mail quoted by TIGGS is not her main one and if anything inappropriate is received, the sender can be blocked or just ignored.
Meghan, Lots of friendships and even some happy couplings on AB started off with a throw away email address because they got on well on here. No personal information is involved initially. I think Tigger is very wise to that.

I'm not a complete stranger, I've been around for a long time (I just took a break). People on here know who I am. It does please me though that you show concern, we need more people like you Meaghan :)
