Emojis And Text Styling Are Coming!

Exciting news for The AnswerBank community!

We're finally introducing a new feature that will allow you to use simple text styling and emojis in your questions and answers.

Express yourself better and build more impactful messages.

We've managed to grab a sneak teaser video from our Dev team:

We'll be rolling this out soon and want to assure our community members that these new features will be subject to moderation under our Site Rules.

Thanks Ed, but this is nothing new to AB, as some others will tell you. It was a feature on AB when I first joined in 2005 but for some reason it was discontinued. Nice to have it back though! Thanks again.

THECORBYLOON - We're in the testing phase at the moment so the release is hopefully not too far away. For something so integral to the day-to-day operations of The AnswerBank we need to ensure it's robust.

10ClarionSt - I appreciate that. We're of course working on other features too, but we feel that on balance the introduction of Text Styling & Emojis combined will really help users express themselves better and build more meaningful and impactful messages.

I think we had various fonts and colour - and we had a PM facility for a little while - but I don't remember us having emojis before. Probably forgotten.

I used the PM feature to have a good friendship with a user called Gadget. We had some really good chats on the phone, him being an Arsenal fan and me Man Utd. He lived in Croydon and worked at the Post Office. The last time I spoke to him was a few years ago when he said his wife was quite poorly and it looked like he was being made redundant. I phoned him one day on the mobile number I always used, but it said it wasn't available. I emailed him: no response. I've emailed lots of times but no answer. And that's it.
Cest la vie. :o(

Using formatting is a good move but as I don’t use emojis, that doesn't interest me and if I can't interpret them, I'm not going to spend time Googling their meanings.

No doubt some will love it.

Can the italic feature be used on more than one string in a post and will it accept punctuation in the italicised string ? (the current one can't do either of these)
