I can understand the extra expense for individuals related only to their job is a valid case for being on expenses; but as mentioned above, it ain't a good look when tightening up on the help for those on pension; and they are being paid sufficiently well that heating any necessary second home could be seen as already covered in their salary.
One wonders whether they will return any profit from a needed second home, back to the taxpayer when they sell up again.
Typically the HoC sits for about 200 days a year. If MPs outside commuting distance are expected to be in London on those days it's a bit much to say they should spend that time in a hotel - I sure wouldn't want to.
I do think some of them are milking the system but it would be difficult to draw up rules that suit all individual cases.
11.23 so you wouldnt mine sleeping in a bed that others had. In anycase a building of that nature even if available would cost sn arm and a leg in London, not to mention council tax service charged etc. Cheaper, much cheaper as it is. Plus MPs are not going to invest their own earnings in such prodject are they?
