Should I Feel Bad For Running After A Dog?

My mom and I took her dog to get some injection at the shelter for his arthritis. I was standing outside the entrance, and the door was open. I heard some commotion inside, and my mom was like "grab it cindy!" A dog ran past me before i knew what was going on. I didn't wanna stand there and do nothing, so I started jogging torward the dog and saying come here boy. The manager of the shelter came out, and said "don't chase her she doesn't know you, god dammit!" So I stopped immediately. The dog ran back inside and we closed the doors so it couldn't get back out. I've been thinking about it all day, and i feel super bad especially because there was a road nearby, and I could have gotten the dog killed.

You stopped. The dog is safe. Why do you always look for the negative in what you have done. You cant change what is done but you can think what you should do should the same thing happen again

You obviously had no idea of the dogs gender.

How would you have felt in that scenario?

Poor dog is probably now undergoing gender reasigning counciling.
